The Nature.

Went Pulau Ubin on friday for Camp Discovery, a leadership camp for my SRC freshies. Its' my first time stepping onto this island. Indeed, its' still kinda backward and kampong style comparing to us.

Reached around 8.30am. Took a 12 person ferry from Changi Village Interchange. Starts re-grouping the freshies when we reached as some couldn't make it. Took a van which brought us to our base camp, Nordin beach.

Helpers started pitching tents, unloading stuffs, gathering freshies, etc. Had our packed lunch (Nasi Lemak), the best food you can find on this island, and games started around 12+pm. Went around fetching late freshies in from the jetty to Mamam beach. Fortunately, there's a van bringing us around. However, the uncle was kinda unhappy cuz' we "over-used" him. He charged us only 50 bucks for unlimted rides per day. He had never imagined that the "unlimited" rides provided to us is actually a infinity number.

Nevertheless, games ended around 5+pm and the freshies, together with their facilitators were walking back to the base camp. Gonna prepare our own dinner for the night. As it reaches 7pm, the night turns dark. Everyone gonna depend on their torch lights to cook their own food.

Instant noodles, canned food, bunsen burner, mess tins were provided. I've never tasted such a nice can of campbell soup before. The feeling of cooking in the dark, where the sky was pouring rain and the coldness you get from the sea breeze, makes everyone gets even closer to one another. The hot, burning soup actually makes all of us felt the warmth that we needed there.

As the night goes, simple games continued at the base camp. Time for freshies to get shower, yet the rain gets even heavier. The cold wind was so strong that I dun even wish to move about. Had our exco meeting till 2am in the morning. The weather was even colder. I dun bother to bathe at this hour. Get Vanessa to accompany me to that super pitch dark toliet to change, wash my face and that's it.

Made our way back to our tent as soon as possible. The heavy pouring rain makes me felt even freaking colder, besides the strong cold wind. I felt like I am situated in a winter Poland. Back to our slightly warmer tent, We were too tired to chat further. I was being knocked out just in about 10 mins time.

Woke up at 6am in the morning, thanks to Alvin waking everyone up. Was intending to have a 5BX run, but was cancelled due to the heavy rain. The rain din stop since last night. The strong tiding waves gave me a scary feeling. Looking at the waves, reminds me of Tsunami. How the innocent lives were being lost to the strong tidal waves. If the tidal waves hit Ubin, I guess all of our lives would be sacrificed too. Our tents were so bloody near to the sea. Guess its even lesser than 50m away.

Games started at around 8.30am. Everyone left the base camp to their respective game stations. Me and Sanipher left around 10.30am. Made our way back to the jetty and the whole walk took us 1 whole bloody hr! My sandals were spoilt and I have some difficulty in walking. My toes were blistered.

Back to Changi Village interchange around 12.30pm. Took a long ride back on the mrt and I managed to reach home around 2pm. Unpack my stuffs as soon as possible, bathe and get changed immediately. Managed to get an hour of sleep before I woke up and prepared for the S.H.E concert at night.

Met Gerald and his friends at Cineleisure at 5.30pm. Felt strange initially, cuz' all were guys and they were NS friends. However, with Gerald around, he will definitely wont leave me out, *grinz*.

The concert was quite good. S.H.E did really improved alot in their singing techniques and Ella is always the best when she's on stage. She managed to interact with the audiences marvellously, cracking jokes and creating wonderful atmosphere. I will update more on the concert when I've uploaded the photos.

The whole Ubin camp makes me appreciates what I have now. There's no reception to my mobile phone, no proper lights, no transportation, just the nature. Every night, what you can see is only the moonlight. The moonlight is the only light which is able to guide you through. No phone calls to distract you. No television to help you past time. No internet for you to surf. What you have is only the nature. Natural rainforest, birds, insects and the sea. Somehow, when you are actually tired of your daily routine, try to make you way down this place. A place which allows you to put away your woes for awhile. A place where you actually feels the relaxing pace that you might needed in your life.

Time: 1.23 AM.
