Charity show or local version of Cirque du soleil ?
Wad exactly do they need to do to raise a huge sum of money? Artistes trying out dangerous stunts, alwayz looking sad and pathetic, begging for more phone calls from the viewers, itzzi really effective? *shrugz*
I jux dun understand why do all these artistes alwayz need to put up an "act" or a programme jux to cater for charity organisations. Alwayz telling the viewers how badly the patients suffered, how much money they need to cure, etc. It is obvious dat the mass media plays a great part. Apparently, we oreadi knew all these stuff (esp when they keep repeating wad they're expected to say every year). Sporeans are not heartless, I'm sure.
Look at the Tsunami attack, for example. No one performed any stunts to raise funds. No "special" phone numbers to dial. Everyone jux donated wadever they've and tries to play a part for the victims. Some even travelled all the way to the affected areas to help out. Do we need to be told wad we're supposed to do? Obviously, no.
Stop bugging us to donate more. My mum donated 8 freaking calls previously when she mistaken dat the number was for 1 call only (I'm still waiting for the vouchers to arrive, hallo?!!). I had enough of all these. Do we really have to donate only when the artistes are performing during dat certain time of the year?
I can understand how the patients felt. Highly dependable on costly equipments and medication are sad cases indeed. However we have our limits as well. Why dun the "gah-men" tax us lesser (so dat we've more available cash to donate) or donate a certain amount of our taxes (including income and goods&services) to the needy every year? How am I able to help the society when I've insufficient cash on hand?! Money demand is greater than money supply!! I do wish to help, you know.
Nevertheless, I appreciates their effort to put up such programmes. Taking gd care of Sporeans' welfare and the unfortunates. Maybe I shld join the Project Superstar 2006 and tries to get into the top 20s so dat I can play a part during charity shows as well? Hmmm, gd idea rite?!
