Mad Jack Cafe

Travelled past this restaurant countless of times on the bus back home, but have never been inside. I guess the general lack of a reason to visit that area (coronation/crown center - nothing much to do around there) ensured that I rarely ever walked past Mad Jack on foot.
Due to the curiousity and the eagerness to blog about more new eating places, I have decided to make a trip down and give it a try.

First impression of the restaurant was good, with its open air concept, bright walls and relaxed comfy atmosphere. it does look a lil' enticing with its warm decor and New York-ish sidewalk cafe feel.
Grilled Chicken In Orange Sauce with Mashed Potato.
Slight tangerian taste, yet the chicken was quite tender and "flavourful". The mashed potato was abit disappointing though, tasted like those normal solidified and MSG laded ones from the 7-11 stores.
Blue Mountain Chicken Burger. Their so called, "Tallest Burger In Town".
Quite a generous portion for one serving that stacked with 3 pieces of home-made meat patties. If you're not so much of a carnivore, I would suggest you to share with another small-eater.
Another reason that you may or may not like this burger will be determined by the "Onions-Attack". Lotsa onions and bits of carrots found in it, gave the patties a more crunchy bite. I love it!!
A whole slice of pineapple found in between the burger. Nice combination to make the meat taste less oily.
Realised that they're actually quite generous with the veggies portion as well. Huge slices of tomatoes and lettuces found in the burger. I especially love burgers with lotsa lotsa veggies and fresh crunchy tomatoes. Overall, its' quite average-ly done. The meat patties weren't too saltish or fatty (as compared to Botak Jones, horrible!!). One bad point was that they kinda' over-cooked the meat and it tasted a lil' charcoal-ish. Look at the char-black parts on the cheese!

Quoted: "Specializing in authentic Australian fares, you will go bonkers over the insanely good chow at Mad Jack Café." Give it a try if you do drop by this place. Close competitor to the over-rated Botak Jones, which I don't crave for it at all.
