Carousel @ Royal Plaza Scotts

A nice late afternoon with the ladies to celebrate Cuiping's birthday. Continuing from the previous marvellous high tea buffet at the Intercontinental Hotel for Liting's birthday (which I didn't bring my camera out!), we suggested yet another high tea over at the Carousel.
From right to left: salmon sashimi, sushi with egg, cucumber and unagi, wheat bread with cheese and cucumber.

First start, the "salty" portion. As it was Father's Day, the whole restaurant was filled with the malays and most of them just dashed over to the Halah food corners. While they were busy scrapping off the very last piece of curry mutton/chicken/beef topping over their nasi lemak with a few sticks of Otah, I was happily walking over to the Japanese corner and took a few sushi and sashimi to begin with.
From right to left: Otah, Popiah, fried prawn roll with bamboo shoot.
After queuing for more than 15 minutes, I was expecting something fantastic from the in-house popiah. Ultra disappointing! The fillings were miserable and the popiah skin was too dry and thick. The young chef taking care of wrapping these popiahs do not have the actual skills at all. He was very slow in the whole progress, the popiah skin torn while he split them apart and all the fillings dropped even before I started tucking in. Sigh.
From right to left: pineapple crumble cake with strawberry, coconut roll, lemon cheesecake with raisins, banana cake with hazelnut.
Time to move on to the sweet portion. The cheesecake was nicely-done. Not too rich and "cheesy". I am not really a cheesecake lover, but at least I can have a maximum two pieces on this.
A normal fruity cake, just that the top portion was covered with pineapples. Very interesting because I seldom sees pineapple cake in the western form.
Banana cakes are my favourite! Over here, the banana portion wasn't very generous enough and overall it was kinda average. I would much prefer the one over at Plaza Singapore, 4th level. Just next to SpotLight. Their cakes and teas were better, in terms of authentic Victorian style.
Jiaying's portion. Can't recall what she took. Anyway, I've took a few photos on the food that I tried from her's.
Jiaying repeated told me to try this and she even went back to get a few more. We don't really know the actual terminology of this cake, thus we called it the scrambled egg pudding cake. Oh well...

It tasted very nice though. Soft and sweet. It is like those 马来糕 that Mom used to buy for us when we were young. 超好食架!
Lastly, a normal apple-crumble cake that tasted ultra normal. The whole high tea buffet wasn't very worthwhile, considering the prices that we paid for. Mainly, the food caters more to the muslims side as they're on halah items. Don't think we will ever be coming back for more. Period.
